Autumn 2013 Workshop Schedule

Here is our new updated  Class & Workshop Schedule.

Weekly Classes:
Our Weekly classes are resuming in the second week of September, also there have been a few changes to how our classes are going to be scheduled.  We are running a 4 Part Beginner Class which is aimed at first time quilters and as a refresher course.  As a teacher and quilter I am delighted with how the women who have attended classes did in the various show this summer.  Congratulations to everyone who won ribbon as well as those who participated.

Beginner Course:
The Beginner Class is for the first time quilter as well as a refresher course. There are 4 sessions, each session is held on a Saturday and will meet from 10:00am - 4:00pm.  Each participant will complete a 12 Block sampler quilt. You will have a choice of several dozen blocks and a variety of settings to choose from. The class starts on Saturday, 21 September. Please call or stop by for more information. The price for the course is €140. Payable at time of sign up. * Each participant will need a sewing machine, rotary cutter 45mm, cutting mat and 6"x 24" ruler on the first day of the class.  If you don't have the tools please call me prior to the course, we offer a discount if purchased when you take the class.

Class schedule as follows:  21 September, 26 October (this is a Sunday), 23 November, 11 January.

Kim Diehl Quilt Project:
Have you ever fancied making a Kim Diehl project but couldn't even begin to fathom where to start?  This is the second time we have offered a class centered around the designs of Kim and are doing a second one by popular demand.  We have two quilt projects to choose from and each will have applique (don't worry its not hard) and you don't have to stick to the same colours that are shown in her patterns.  This quilt looks great in both brights and darks.

Class is starting on a Monday, 9 September from 10:00am - 2:00. The doors open at 9:30 for tea and coffee so that work begins at 10!

This class will meet every three weeks on the following dates: 9 & 30 September, 21 October, 11 November, 2 December.

Open Sew Tuesday Night:
This evening is reserved for the free spirit, all the participants are free to choose a project of their liking and open to having some great laughs and plenty of banter.  Participants in this class are fairly independent and are confident sewers.  If you want to enjoy a good night out and learn something new at each session then this is for you.

Class is starting on Tuesday, 10 September from 7:00 - 10:00 pm.  The doors open at 7:00 and people are free to arrive anytime after that and we typically lose track of time and the lights get turned off sometime after 10:00pm.

Class will meet on the following Tuesday evenings: 10 & 24 September, 8 & 22 October, 5 & 19 November, 3 December.

Fast and Fun:
Sewing can be a fun and very creative past time, it is also food for the soul!  This class is for the individual who wants to improve on basic sewing skills and walk out of each class with a completed project.  Fun projects that are simple and fast.  Making practical projects that you can use such as a Pin cushion & thread catcher, Cosmetic bag with zipper, Tote bag and finally a Christmas project.

Class is starting on Thursday Morning and will meet from 10:00 - 2:00.  We will meet on 19 September, 10 October, 7 & 28 November.  The doors open at 9:30 for tea and coffee so that work begins at 10!

Jelly rolls & Sixty degrees of Madness:
I have decided to pick one of my favourite Jelly roll patterns for this class.  You will be sewing strips and then cutting at 60 Degree angles, then the fun begins!  I choose this pattern because it suits all types of fabrics; modern, brights, solids and darks or traditionals.  You will find after you complete this quilt you will find and endless design ideas for 60 degree triangles.

There will be two separate classes, one morning and one for the evening.

The morning class is starting on Wednesday morning, 18 September, 9 & 23 October, 13 November, 4 December.  from 10:00 - 2:00.  The doors open at 9:30 for tea and coffee so that work begins at 10!

The evening class is starting on Thursday evening, 19 September, 10 & 24 October, 14 November, 5 December.  from 7:00 - 10:00.  The evening classes typically finish around 9:30 but there is no pressure to finish up, the lights are on til 10:00.

Pineapple Panache:
The Pineapple quilt is versatile, challenging and is all the rage.  Every quilter should have a pineapple quilt in her home, its a mark of distinction!  From Two Colour quilts to very scrappy, Pineapple quilts can be both modern looking or traditional, it's all up to the quilter.  We will be working with a specialty ruler to help us on this journey and can't wait to see all the different quilts we produce.  You will be in control of the size of your finished project.

Class is starting on Friday Morning, 20 September from 10:00 - 2:00.  We will meet on the following dates;  20 September, 11 & 25 October, 15 November, 6 December. The doors open at 9:30 for tea and coffee so that work begins at 10!

Maybe piping or jumbo ric rac, so many possibilities.  Each participant must bring with them practice pieces such as tablerunners, child's/baby quilt, etc for finishing.  Details will be provided.  This is a class that has been requested many times and I have worked at developing a hands on class that I hope you will all enjoy!  Class Fee:€40.00
